Jens Brand, born in 1968 in Dortmund. From 1988-94, art studies at the Kunstakademie Münster. By encountering performances at het apollohuis (Akio Suzuki, Junko Wada and Paul Panhuysen) and the experimental Intermedia Foundation (Phill Niblock), he turned to experimental music and sound art. Since then, he has realised a number of installations, music performances and intermedia works. In 1992, he began working with Waldo Riedl (Urban planer, musician), founding MeX e.V. - an initiative promoting intermedial and experimental music and media projects. He has received a number of international grants, composition commissions and awards ( among others Villa Aurora, Los Angeles 2003; Edith-Ruß-Haus, Oldenburg, 2007). His pieces can appear as concerts, performances or installations. His experiments with everything that can be considered to be art are not supposed to establish a belief or truth, but try to offer a fruitful soil for research, communication and progressive failure. Most recent works are: "Ze Bif" (2010), "Kleine Weltmaschine - Donaueschingen (2011). Since 2010 he lives and works in Berlin.
