Nicolas Collins
Pea Soup
Nicolas Collins was born in New York City and studied composition at Lucien Alvier and the Wesleyan University. He appeared as composer and presented his audio installations in the United States, Europe, South America and Japan. Many recordings of his music do exist. Collins is a pioneer in using micro computers on stage, as well he is using plentiful "homemade" electronic circuits, radio, picked up sounds and alienated instruments. Recently Collins accentuates spoken words and combines headstrong electronics with acoustic instruments.

Collins is as well curating installations and perfomances; he is attending projects for PS1, The Clocktower, The Kitchen, STEIM, De IJsbreker, Podewil and the Internationale Musikwochen Luzern. In 1992 he went from New York to the Netherlands, beeing artistical director at Stichting STEIM for 3 years. 1996 to 1997 the DAAD cultivated him as a composer-in-residence in Berlin. In 1997 Collins was appointed editor in chief for the Leonardo Music Journal.
